A waterproof rubber wire grommet must be specified for the panel opening, cable and expected water exposure. Its function is local to the cable entry.
Check the cutout, panel thickness, cable diameter and installation method. Verify the assembled seal against the required conditions. Steam, elevated temperature and other fluids require separate compatibility checks.
A grommet does not protect the whole cable length or make electrical faults impossible. Use suitable cable insulation, support and other required protective measures. Confirm the actual compound and product data rather than relying on a promise of protection in every environment.
