Start with the mounting opening, panel thickness and cable or tube that must pass through it. These measurements determine which product drawings to compare.
For a conventional grooved grommet, check the groove diameter, panel-thickness range, inside passage and outer flange. Overall thickness is a separate dimension and should not be confused with the groove width.
There is no universal size range for all rubber grommets. If making a new opening, use the chosen product's specified cutout and tolerances. For a nonstandard part, provide a drawing or existing sample and confirm material, fit and any performance requirements during review.
