A thick-profile rubber grommet may provide additional material around an opening, but thickness alone does not establish load capacity, temperature resistance or cable protection. The profile must suit the panel and application.
Define which thickness matters
Overall thickness is different from groove width. A thick part may still be intended for a thin panel, so check the drawing and specified panel-thickness range. Also confirm bore size, flange clearance and installation access.
Review the operating loads
Cable movement, pulling forces and vibration may require separate support or a purpose-designed component. A grommet cannot absorb all pressure, heat and shock, and extra thickness is not a substitute for a temperature-rated compound.
Provide the dimensions, operating conditions and required tests when requesting a custom part. Use a customer drawing or existing sample for manufacturability review and sample evaluation.
