Big rubber grommets help protect larger cables, hoses or bundles at panel openings. Big is a relative description, so the dimensions must be stated explicitly in millimeters or inches.
Provide a complete size specification
Record the bore diameter, mounting-hole dimensions, panel thickness, flange size and overall thickness. For an irregular opening, provide a dimensioned drawing. A number without a unit cannot be used reliably for manufacture or purchasing.
Consider the bundle and loading
Check connector clearance, cable movement and support for the bundle. Several cables through one open grommet can leave gaps; this arrangement should not be assumed to provide a liquid seal. Heavy hoses or cables may need separate support.
Choose the compound for the actual temperature and exposure conditions. For a nonstandard part, submit a drawing or existing sample for manufacturability review, quotation and sampling before production.
