Custom rubber grommets are manufactured to an agreed part specification when a standard catalog profile does not suit the installation. Start with your drawing or an existing sample so the manufacturing requirements can be reviewed.
Provide an identifiable part specification
Include the drawing revision, mounting opening, panel thickness, cable or tube passage, critical dimensions and tolerances. Specify the material, hardness, color and service conditions. For a sample-based request, identify the dimensions and performance requirements that must be confirmed before tooling.
State whether the part is intended for edge protection, sealing, retention or another defined function. Manufacturing review considers whether the specified part can be molded and produced; the requirements and acceptance criteria must be agreed before production.
Confirm quantity, tooling and sampling
Include the quantity required for the initial order and any expected repeat orders. Minimum quantities, tooling costs, sampling arrangements and delivery timing are confirmed in the quotation for the particular part. Do not assume that a custom part can be supplied in a particular small quantity or within a fixed lead time.
The custom manufacturing process covers manufacturability review, quotation, tooling, sampling and production. Review the sample against the agreed drawing and evaluate its fit and required function in the intended assembly before approving production.
Compare standard profiles first
A standard part may already meet the requirements. Use the grommet size chart to compare profiles, then check the available material, color, price and minimum quantity. If the dimensions or service requirements differ, supply the drawing or existing sample for a custom quotation.
