EPDM rubber grommets are used in suitable edge-protection and sealing applications. Their performance depends on the compound and part design, so selection should be based on the actual operating requirements.
Temperature and exposure
Request the rated temperature range for the proposed compound and clarify continuous versus short-term exposure. Check compatibility with the actual fluids and cleaning agents. A generic EPDM description does not establish a temperature limit or resistance to every chemical.
Mechanical and electrical requirements
Match the mounting-hole dimensions, panel thickness and cable range to the drawing. Electrical insulation, vibration isolation and sealing are separate functions that need appropriate specifications and evidence. A grommet cannot guarantee protection from electric shock or all equipment damage.
Inspect the part during service for cracking, deformation or loss of retention. Correct installation does not eliminate aging or establish a service life of years or decades.
