Matching a Grommet to a Panel Hole

Rubber Grommets1 min readExplore product profiles

Matching a grommet to a panel hole requires a defined cutout and panel thickness. A size number without a drawing can refer to a different product or dimension and should not be treated as a universal rubber-grommet standard.

Specify the opening and cable

Measure the hole shape and dimensions, the panel thickness and the cable or tube size. For a noncircular opening, include corner radii and flange clearance. Check the installation method before preparing the panel.

Review the selected part

Compare each dimension with the catalogue drawing and note the units and tolerances. Confirm material suitability and any separate sealing or retention requirements. A dimension match alone does not guarantee that every performance requirement is met.

For multiple sizes or a custom part, list each requirement and quantity. Custom manufacturing is reviewed from customer drawings or existing samples.

Use our size finder to compare listed dimensions, then check the selected part drawing and material specification.
