Use a grommet catalogue to compare the shape, dimensions and material requirements of individual parts. Profile names and letter codes are catalogue identifiers, not universal performance standards.
Select the profile by its drawing
Check whether the part has an open bore, a closed center or another specified feature. Confirm the mounting-hole size, panel-thickness range and retaining geometry. A label such as Type B does not identify a blend of rubber and silicone.
Select the compound separately
Specify the actual elastomer and required properties. Silicone rubber, NBR (Nitrile) and other compounds can have different temperature and fluid limits even when molded into the same profile. Color and hardness should also be agreed where relevant.
Before ordering, record the part reference, drawing revision, units and quantity. Submit a customer drawing or sample for review if no listed profile meets the requirement.
Use our size finder to compare listed dimensions, then check the selected part drawing and material specification.
