A rubber cable grommet seal provides a specified interface around a cable entry. It must fit both the panel opening and the cable diameter.
Some products use a pierceable membrane, but the allowed opening and cable range depend on the instructions. A cut membrane does not automatically prove water or dust exclusion. Verify the assembled seal against the required exposure conditions.
Rubber formulations vary in electrical properties. Rated insulation, strain relief and vibration performance require separate specifications where relevant. Select the compound for temperature and fluid contact and check retention and cable clearance after installation.
