A rubber grommet may provide edge protection at a specified electrical-box opening. Confirm that the selected cable-entry arrangement meets the box and equipment requirements.
Check the cutout, wall thickness, cable size and installation method. An ordinary grommet may not provide the required cable retention, sealing or electrical rating. Use the specified component rather than assuming any rubber ring is suitable.
Select the compound for the operating environment and inspect for damage, hardening or displacement. Installation time and service life depend on the actual product and conditions. A grommet does not repair damaged wiring.
