Rubber Grommets for Hole Sealing

Rubber Grommets1 min readExplore product profiles

A rubber grommet used for sealing must match the specified opening and mating surfaces. Flexibility does not justify forcing an oversized part into an undersized hole.

Check the cutout, panel thickness, retaining profile and any cable or tube dimensions. Define the fluid exposure, temperature and pressure where relevant. An open edge-protection grommet is not automatically a sealing component.

Choose a suitable compound and follow the installation instructions. Verify the completed seal against the application requirements. For custom manufacture, provide a drawing or existing sample with tolerances and acceptance criteria before tooling and sampling.
