Rubber Grommet Plugs: Material and Retention

Rubber Grommets1 min readExplore product profiles

A rubber grommet plug closes a specified unused opening. Select its retaining profile and dimensions to suit the cutout and panel thickness.

Check the compound for temperature, fluids and outdoor exposure. Rubber can harden, crack or change properties with aging, so a general durability claim does not establish an unlimited service life.

Verify any required water, dust or gas seal in the actual assembly. Closing a hole does not automatically provide vibration isolation. Follow the installation and inspection requirements, and use a separate open profile if a cable or tube must pass through the panel.
