Small grommets include different products. A fabric eyelet reinforces an opening in material such as a curtain or cover, while a rubber panel grommet usually protects a cable at a rigid opening.
Choose installation tools for the actual product. A two-piece metal eyelet may need a matching setting die; a push-in rubber grommet uses a different retention method. Do not transfer one procedure to the other.
Material choice depends on the application and exposure. Brass, stainless steel, aluminum and elastomers should not be ranked by a universal reliability claim. Check dimensions, strength or retention requirements, and follow the supplied instructions before fitting the part.
