A blind rubber grommet covers a panel hole without providing an open cable passage. Use the round profiles above to shortlist a size, then confirm the panel fit, material and retention requirements for your assembly.
Three checks for a blanking grommet
Panel hole and thickness
Match the groove dimensions to the panel cutout and thickness using the drawing. Check outside diameter and overall thickness for clearance on both sides of the panel.
Retention in the assembly
Specify installation access, expected movement and any push-out or pull-out acceptance requirement. Confirm retention with the intended panel and sample; a nominal diameter alone cannot establish it.
Exposure and closure requirements
State temperature, contact fluids and outdoor exposure when selecting the compound. A closed center does not establish waterproof, airtight or pressure-rated performance; sealing requirements need agreed assembly and test conditions.

Are blind, blanking and closed-center grommets the same?
These terms can describe a grommet used to close an unused hole. Confirm the actual center construction on the drawing. A pierceable membrane or diaphragm should not be assumed to be the same as a solid closed center.
Can I cut the center to pass a cable through?
Do not assume a blanking profile is intended to be pierced or cut. For a cable passage, select an open-center profile or provide a drawing that specifies the required construction for manufacturing review.
Does a closed-center grommet make a panel waterproof?
No waterproof, airtight or pressure rating follows from a closed center alone. Specify the required performance, panel, assembly and test conditions so suitability can be evaluated.
What should I send for a blanking grommet quote?
Include the part number or drawing, panel hole diameter, panel thickness, units, material requirements, quantity and service conditions. Add any retention or sealing acceptance criteria. For a custom part, send your drawing or existing sample.
