Cable passage applications
Rubber Grommet Requirements for Marine Cable Applications
Describe the cable passage and its location before choosing a rubber profile. Submit your drawing or existing sample with the exposure and acceptance requirements so manufacturability and supply can be confirmed for the proposed application.

Product catalog & online ordering
Choose a Product Series to Order
Open a product series, match the drawing and part dimensions, then select the available material and color. Review the price and minimum order, add the part to your cart, and adjust the quantity before checkout. These are standard catalog profiles for comparison; application suitability and any required performance must be confirmed.

Identify the passage and its function
The word marine does not define a single material, mounting arrangement or sealing requirement.
Sheltered cable routing
For a passage in a sheltered compartment, state the panel and cable dimensions, available access and the required edge-protection or retention function. Include incidental moisture and cleaning exposure.
Weather-exposed locations
Describe sun and weather exposure, saltwater splash, wet/dry cycles and service temperatures. Specify the relevant acceptance checks rather than assuming a general outdoor compound meets every marine condition.
Water-boundary applications
If the passage is part of a water boundary, identify its safety function and required test or approval criteria. A cable grommet profile does not by itself establish watertight bulkhead or hull performance.
Document the interfaces and exposure
Give enough detail to review the complete installed part, including other fluids present at the same location.
Panel and harness dimensions
Provide the cutout shape, panel thickness, tolerances, cable or bundle envelope and connector dimensions. Show installation access, cable exit direction and any movement at the passage.
Contacting fluids
List saltwater exposure separately from fuel, lubricating oil and cleaning agents, with concentration, temperature and duration where applicable. Material compatibility must be reviewed for the combined service conditions.
Installed acceptance criteria
State retention and movement requirements. For any sealing requirement, define the exposure or pressure, duration, assembly arrangement and permitted leakage; a product name or photograph is not a test result.
Confirm a project-specific manufacturing scope
Use your drawing or existing sample to establish the requested part and the evidence needed for acceptance.
Material and geometry review
Send the drawing revision, material specification or candidate family, hardness and color reference. Include the mating panel and cable details so feasibility can be assessed against the actual application.
Documents and sample evaluation
Identify any required material records, approval documents or installation tests before quotation. Confirm the evidence available and the sample evaluation plan for the selected compound and profile.
Quotation and production arrangements
Provide sample and production quantities and delivery requirements. Tooling, sampling and production are subject to confirmation of manufacturability, supply and the agreed acceptance requirements.
Before you specify a part
Rubber Grommet Requirements for Marine Cable Applications: purchasing questions
Confirm the complete part specification and acceptance requirements for your assembly.
Does this page imply marine certification?
No. Submit any required marine approval or certification with the part specification. Applicability and available evidence must be confirmed for the actual product and installation.
Can a grommet be specified as a watertight hull or bulkhead passage?
Do not infer that capability from a grommet name or profile. Identify the water-boundary function and required approval and test conditions so the suitability of the proposed assembly can be assessed.
Is one rubber family suitable for saltwater, fuel and oil?
Material selection must account for each contacting fluid and the exposure conditions. Provide the complete fluid list and review the specific compound; a weathering rating does not establish compatibility with fuels or oils.
Can you confirm fit for a particular outboard engine?
A model name or photograph alone does not establish replacement compatibility. Provide a controlled drawing or existing sample, interface dimensions and material requirements for manufacturing and supply review.
Prepare your production inquiry
Send the part reference or your drawing or existing sample details, required quantity and service conditions. Confirm manufacturing feasibility, sample arrangements and production requirements for your specification.
