Stepped rubber profiles

Stepped Snap Ring Grommets

Compare stepped rubber profiles for assemblies that specify a stepped body and panel mounting groove. Use the TRG drawing and dimension table together to identify the required section, passage and panel fit, then confirm the material and order quantity for your project.

01 / PROCUREMENT REQUIREMENTS

Confirm the stepped section required by the assembly

A stepped profile needs a section-by-section comparison. Its outline is different from an ordinary round grommet or a long-neck sleeve.

Read the profile drawing

Locate the mounting groove, flange, stepped body and center on the drawing. Compare their positions with your assembly section. A product photograph shows the general shape but cannot establish the dimensions of every step.

Separate the groove from the other diameters

Use the specified groove diameter for the panel interface and compare groove width with panel thickness. Do not select a part using a step diameter or the outer flange diameter as a substitute for the mounting dimension.

Define the required center construction

Confirm the intended passage or center construction for the selected part. Do not assume that the visible steps mean the part can be trimmed to any cable size. Any opening or cutting requirement belongs in the agreed specification.

02 / PROCUREMENT REQUIREMENTS

Shortlist a TRG part using the original specifications

The source catalog lists individual TRG references. Keep the complete dimension row and its drawing together when comparing candidates.

Compare the full dimension row

Check inside diameter, outside diameter, groove diameter, groove width and overall thickness. Retain the source units and verify tolerances against the drawing before deciding that a listed profile fits.

Check axial and radial clearance

Show the available space around the body and on both panel faces. Compare overall thickness and the stepped outline with adjacent components, and state the intended installation direction and access.

Resolve differences before quotation approval

Mark any dimension or section that differs from your requirement. If a listed TRG profile is unsuitable, provide a customer drawing or existing sample for manufacturing review rather than assuming a nearby size is interchangeable.

03 / PROCUREMENT REQUIREMENTS

Order against an agreed manufacturing specification

Specify the profile and application first, then confirm the commercial and production arrangements for that configuration.

Compound and service conditions

State required hardness, color, operating temperatures and contact fluids. Confirm the material for the selected profile and service environment; the stepped shape itself does not establish heat, fluid or weather resistance.

Quantity and supply requirements

Provide your required quantity, delivery requirements and destination with the TRG reference. Material options, packaging and production arrangements are confirmed in the quotation for that order.

Sample and fit approval

Agree the drawing revision and assembly acceptance requirements before approval. For a custom stepped section made from your drawing or sample, review manufacturability, tooling and sampling before committing to production.

Before you specify a part

Stepped Snap Ring Grommets: purchasing questions

Confirm the complete part specification and acceptance requirements for your assembly.

What distinguishes a stepped grommet from a long-neck grommet?

The stepped family has a tiered body profile, while the long-neck family uses an extended sleeve. Compare the actual section and mounting dimensions with your assembly rather than choosing by the family name alone.

Can one stepped profile fit several different panel holes?

Do not assume that each visible step is a valid mounting position. Use the groove and panel dimensions specified for the selected TRG part and request confirmation if your intended installation differs.

Can the steps be cut to create the required opening?

Do not infer a cutting instruction from the photograph. Confirm the required center construction and any opening modification with the drawing and manufacturing specification for the proposed part.

How is the order quantity specified?

Send the required quantity with the selected profile and material requirements. The quotation confirms the supply and packaging arrangements for the project; this selection page does not specify a fixed retail pack.

What if none of the TRG dimension rows matches?

Send your drawing or an existing sample with the required stepped section, panel fit, tolerances and material. We review manufacturability, quotation, tooling and sampling before custom production.

Prepare your production inquiry

Send the part reference or your drawing or existing sample details, required quantity and service conditions. Confirm manufacturing feasibility, sample arrangements and production requirements for your specification.
