Cable entry sealing review
Rubber Grommets for Cable Entry Sealing
When a cable entry must resist water ingress, specify the complete cable, grommet and panel assembly. Use the existing WPG profiles to identify a candidate, then confirm the material, fit and required test conditions. A profile name alone does not establish sealing performance.

Product catalog & online ordering
Choose a Product Series to Order
Open a product series, match the drawing and part dimensions, then select the available material and color. Review the price and minimum order, add the part to your cart, and adjust the quantity before checkout. These are standard catalog profiles for comparison; application suitability and any required performance must be confirmed.

Define what the cable entry must withstand
Describe the exposure and acceptance conditions before using terms such as waterproof or watertight in the specification.
Water exposure
State how the entry encounters water, the installation orientation and the exposure duration. Include any required test method and pressure conditions. Different exposure requirements should not be treated as one universal sealing claim.
Cable contact
Provide the cable shape, outside dimensions, dimensional variation and jacket material. Identify whether the entry carries one cable or a bundle. Do not assume a listed cable-size range establishes sealing around every cable construction.
Panel interface
Include the cutout dimensions, panel thickness and hole-wall finish, together with the assembly drawing. State any specified compression and how it is checked. The review must cover the panel interface as well as the cable interface.
Use the WPG table to shortlist a geometry
The existing product page provides cable-size and mounting dimensions. Use these as selection references while keeping performance requirements separate.
Read all mounting dimensions
Compare cable size, outside diameter, groove diameter, groove width and overall thickness in the same row. Retain the WPG part number and the units shown in the source table when sending your inquiry.
Check the proposed assembly
Submit the candidate profile with the panel and cable specification. Confirm installation access, orientation and the proposed fit. Any change to the cable, panel or assembly method needs review against the agreed sealing requirements.
Distinguish a reference from a rating
The historic Waterproof Grommets series name is not evidence of IP67, IP68, airtightness or pressure-rated performance. Request evidence applicable to the specific part and assembled configuration before approving such a requirement.
Agree material, samples and acceptance before production
A sealing inquiry should result in an agreed configuration and a clear verification plan, rather than a rating inferred from a photograph.
Compound requirements
Specify temperature, contact fluids, outdoor exposure, hardness and color requirements. Confirm the proposed material grade for the conditions. Neither color nor a general rubber family establishes the finished assembly's sealing capability.
Sample and assembly review
Agree the sample configuration, mating cable and panel, assembly procedure and acceptance criteria. Confirm what supporting test information is available and what application testing is required before production approval.
Existing profile or custom manufacture
For a listed profile, provide its WPG reference and quantity. For a different interface, send your drawing or existing sample for manufacturability review, quotation, tooling and sampling. Timing and supply arrangements are confirmed for the project.
Before you specify a part
Rubber Grommets for Cable Entry Sealing: purchasing questions
Confirm the complete part specification and acceptance requirements for your assembly.
Are these cable-entry grommets guaranteed to meet IP67 or IP68?
IP67 performance depends on suitable part and material selection, correct cable and panel fit, and proper installation. The complete assembly must be verified under the required test conditions; the series name alone is not a rating. IP68 requirements must also be specified and verified for the intended assembly and exposure conditions. Send those requirements for review.
Does a cable-size range mean every cable within it will seal?
Do not assume that from the dimension table alone. Provide the actual cable dimensions, shape, jacket and dimensional variation, then confirm the proposed assembly and acceptance testing.
Can I use an open cable grommet to close an unused hole?
A cable passage and an unused opening are different configurations. Review a closed-center blanking profile for an unused hole. A closed center still does not, by itself, establish a waterproof or pressure rating.
What information is needed to review a sealing requirement?
Send the cable and panel specifications, proposed part or drawing, assembly method, exposure duration, service conditions and required test or acceptance criteria. Include any specified compression and the intended purchase quantity.
Can I evaluate samples before approving the order?
Contact us to confirm sample arrangements for the proposed configuration and your assembly evaluation. Free samples may be available for eligible projects; contact us to confirm eligibility and sample arrangements.
Prepare your production inquiry
Send the part reference or your drawing or existing sample details, required quantity and service conditions. Confirm manufacturing feasibility, sample arrangements and production requirements for your specification.
