For a waterproof cable entry, select a grommet whose documented sealing capability matches the intended exposure. An edge-protection grommet and a sealing grommet may look similar but serve different requirements.
Specify the cutout, panel thickness and cable or tube dimensions. State the operating temperature and any fluids, movement or weather exposure. Check the retaining profile and the available installation space.
No part should be assumed immune to damage throughout service. Inspect the installed seal as required for the application, and verify performance after changes to the cable, opening or assembly method.
