Match the grommet to the assembly

Cable protection / Panel fit / Hole blanking

Electronics · Machinery · Equipment

A rubber grommet fits around an opening to cushion contact between the panel edge and a cable, tube or other component. Closed-center profiles can cover unused openings.

Choose the profile for the installation, then confirm dimensions and material. Sealing, retention, insulation and other performance requirements need validation in the actual assembly.

Choose the opening
& profile

Round and oval profiles accommodate different panel openings. Blind profiles close an opening; special shapes require a drawing review. Match the complete profile rather than a single nominal diameter.

Material Options for Rubber Grommets

NR

NR (Natural Rubber)

Strength & flexibility

Material details

Consider natural rubber where flexibility and mechanical properties are priorities. Confirm exposure to oils, weather and ozone before selecting a compound.

NBR

NBR (Nitrile)

Oil-resistant applications

Material details

NBR is a candidate for many oil-contact applications. Identify the fluid, temperature and exposure duration; compatibility depends on the compound and service conditions.

CR

CR (Neoprene)

Weather & ozone resistance

Material details

Compare CR for applications combining weather exposure and mechanical requirements. Confirm the specific fluids, temperatures and required performance for the selected grade.

EPDM

EPDM Rubber

Weather & ozone resistance

Material details

EPDM rubber grommets are suitable for outdoor applications requiring resistance to weathering, ozone and water. They are generally unsuitable for petroleum oils and fuels. Confirm the compound for the intended service conditions.

FKM

FKM (Fluorocarbon)

Chemical & heat resistance

Material details

Review FKM against the exact chemical, concentration and temperature. Confirm the grade and documentation; the material family alone does not establish compatibility.

SI

VMQ (Silicone)

Color & material versatility

Material details

Specify the temperature exposure, hardness and color required for a silicone grommet. High-temperature or food-contact requirements need grade-specific evidence and confirmation.

Compare Material Requirements

Review material information for your service conditions, then select the required material on the product page.

Rubber grommet sourcing questions

Discuss Your Order
What is a rubber grommet used for?

A rubber grommet provides a flexible interface at a panel opening, often to cushion a cable or tube against the edge. Blind grommets cover unused holes. Any sealing, retention or electrical performance must be checked against the application requirements.

Should I select a standard size or request a custom part?

Start with the size chart and compare the full profile, panel opening, panel thickness and cable opening. If the geometry or specification does not match, send your drawing or existing sample for a custom manufacturing review.

Can I request bulk or repeat supply?

Send the part number or drawing, material requirements, first production quantity and expected repeat demand. Pricing, minimum order quantity, availability and delivery schedules are confirmed for the requested part and configuration.

Does a catalog size mean every material is in stock?

No. A dimension listing identifies a part geometry. Confirm the material, hardness, color, quantity and delivery timing for your order; the catalog is not a guarantee of stock in every configuration.

Can I obtain samples before production?

Discuss the part and the checks your project requires. Free samples may be available for eligible projects. Contact us to confirm eligibility and sample arrangements. Tooling and any sample charges are confirmed in the quotation.

What should be agreed before production?

Confirm the drawing revision, material requirements, dimensions, quantities and acceptance criteria for the selected part before ordering. Agree any application-specific tests before production.
