Watertight wire grommets use a specified profile to seal around the intended cable and panel opening. A material's resistance to water is separate from the assembly's ability to prevent leakage.
Check the drawing for the cutout, panel-thickness range, cable diameter and any neck extension. A long neck may guide a cable but does not by itself prove sealing performance or compatibility with a thick wall.
Select the compound for the operating conditions and verify the installed seal. Dust exclusion, cable pull resistance and vibration performance need their own requirements and should not be inferred from the word watertight.
