Big Grommets

Big Grommets

Whenever needing to protect cables from sharp edges, you can use big grommets to get the job done. They can be made from various types of rubber such as NR, NBR, EPDM, silicone, FKM, and neoprene. These materials give the big grommet different properties. But considering that the materials are all subtypes of rubber, they provide the big grommets greater degree of waterproof, dustproof, and protection from sharp cut edges. When it comes to determining the size of grommets, there are a few things to take into account. For starters, you will need to determine what you need the big grommet for. Is it to protect cables and equipment from the before-mentioned sharp edges? Or do you need them for other industries? Depending on the need, we can assume the desired size. For bigger cables, you will need larger grommets. Taking all of that into account, you really need the measurements for the grommet groove width and diameter to know what size you need. Bigger grommets will have much bigger diameters and widths, typically more than 0.063 in width and upwards of 1 inches in diameter.

If you need to match it to a cable, simply measure the cable width and diameter. You can also take the cable with you for a more accurate measurement. If you’re ordering big grommets online, you will need a couple of measurements. By giving us the panel thickness, hole cutout size, and the size of the object that will go through the panel, you will be told exactly what size grommet you need. Most rubber types are quite resistant to high temperatures. In the case of NR rubber grommets, temperature resistance is -67° F to +180° F (-55° C to +82° C). This particular material has excellent abrasion resistance and quite flexible temperature resistance. Other materials used for big grommets have different properties.
