High-temperature rubber grommets are selected for service where ordinary compounds may deteriorate too quickly. The grommet's temperature rating does not establish the temperature rating of the cable or equipment passing through it.
Specify continuous and peak temperatures, exposure duration and contact with fluids. Check the selected compound's data rather than treating a broad material-family range as a product rating. Retention, flexibility and resistance to tearing also matter at the operating temperature.
Heat-resistant rubber can still age, harden or crack. Inspect the installed part as required by the application, and verify that both the grommet and the protected components are suitable for the environment.
