Isolation Grommets

Isolation Grommets

Grommets being a very major component of our everyday life, they affect it one way or the other. Grommets can be seen everywhere from large-scale major factories in the industrial and manufacturing sector to a much smaller scale in our own houses. Without grommets, most of our machines would have been in ruins and our cables in tatters. Even after that, grommets have a very underwhelming influence in today of the world.

The prime purpose of a grommet is very simple – it protects wires from getting cut, scratched, or damaged from the razor-sharp edges of the metallic holes in equipment and machines and also from the rough surface of walls. It doesn’t sound much but just imagine if grommets didn’t exist, most of the cables would have been directly exposed to cuts and if further neglected, would have easily damaged the attached appliances and equipment.

Many people in the grommet industry understand this and cater to several types of grommets that fulfill the needs of their clients. Among these, one of the most popular and widely used grommets is the isolation grommet. Isolation grommets are similar to anti-vibration grommets, except isolation grommets provide much better resistance to vibration by letting the least amount of vibrations touch the wires or the cables passing through the grommet-covered holes.

Vibrations can have dire effects on your cables if they are not protected by isolation grommets. For example, if the wires for your sound system are routed through a hole not protected by isolation grommets, eventually the wires will get damaged as the rough surface of the walls vibrate and scratch the cables which eventually might lead to an accident. Isolation grommets are thus very important in places of extremely high vibrations. They are also used extensively in drilling machines and other various construction equipment and machines to guarantee their safety.
