Sealing Grommet

Sealing Grommet

Sealing grommet also called cable sealing grommet, grommet seal is a sort of silicone rubber grommets to protect the vehicle and electric cables, tubes, wires, airlines, hoses, ropes, or other conduits from damage. A sealing grommet is a tube or ring that is used as a passage for an electrical cable. They are typically produced of rubber or metal. The sealing grommet is generally placed into holes in specific materials to protect sealing cables that run through them from any potential mechanical or chemical attack. Usually, grommets are applied for passing wires through stamped or drilled sheet metal or plastic housings. They are produced in many different sizes and forms for a variety of purposes. The sealing grommets are manufactured from rubber or some other elastomer that may help to lower vibration in the device, especially in devices that are subject to vibration or shock. They also protect the wires and cables from contamination by dirt, liquid and air.

Closed sealing grommets provide excellent sealing of unnecessary holes in metal panels or switch boxes. These closed sealing grommets are produced from rubber or Silicone. Open sealing grommets are perfect for sealing pipes or cables that run through a metal panel as well as preventing the cable or pipe from rubbing, thus not having to deburr the hole in the panel. They are typically used in motor vehicles and household appliances.

Self-sealing grommets are designed to be effective when used in oily and greasy areas with no need for specific tools to snap them into round holes. If necessary, they could be removed and reused. These grommets are commonly used in automotive, household appliances, fascia panels, electrical equipment and telecommunication equipment. Grommets are required when hole strengthening is necessary to help avoid ragged edges. Grommets can be found in different materials and many sizes with varying hole diameters.
