A silicone grommet used near a heat source needs a defined temperature requirement. The material name alone does not establish the operating limit of the finished part.
Describe the actual exposure
Record the normal operating temperature, peak temperature, duration of each peak and frequency of heating and cooling. Identify contact fluids, cleaning conditions and any compression or movement while the part is hot. These details allow the proposed compound to be reviewed against the application.
The silicone grommet guide lists a typical dry-heat screening range of −60°C to +200°C. Higher-temperature exposure requires grade-specific qualification; the dry-heat range does not establish suitability for hot water or steam. Confirm the selected grade and exposure duration before ordering.
Check fit and the required function
Use the drawing to check the cable passage, mounting hole, groove width and flange clearance. Include dimensional tolerances and the intended assembly method in the specification. Evaluate the sample under the intended operating conditions, including temperature changes.
Heat resistance does not establish fire resistance, sterility, food-contact suitability or electrical insulation. If the assembly needs sealing or electrical protection, specify the required performance and acceptance checks separately.
Prepare a manufacturing inquiry
Provide the part number or drawing, material requirements, temperature profile and order quantity. For a different geometry, supply a drawing or existing sample for manufacturing review. Compare the material families and their limitations before confirming the compound, tooling, sampling and production arrangements.
